Exciting news to hear of Triumph’s announcement of the new Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X set to come out in early 2024.

The bikes will be designed from the ground up with design cues and inspiration gained from Triumph’s modern classics and off-road history. Designed to offer a nimble, confidence-inspiring, and comfortable ride for riders of all experience levels.

The models will feature the completely new TR (Trophy) series engine; the single-cylinder, four-valve, liquid-cooled engine; produces 39.5 hp of peak power and 27.7 LB-FT of peak torque. Adding to the package the models feature high-quality finishes to add to the Triumph feel, with black powder-coated engine casing, gold anodized forks, and high-quality paint. Adding more to the triumph feel is the traditional exhaust header, upswept silencer and notable finned cylinder head.

The models benefit from a slim standover width and an accessible seat height of 790mm, while only weighing 170 kg. Both models offer model-specific chassis, with a new frame, bolt-on subframe and cast-aluminum swingarm, with suspension tailored to each model.

 

Speed 400

The Speed 400 features 43mm big-piston upside forks, with a mono-shock rear shock with an external reservoir. While the wheels are lightweight 17-inch wheels with roadster-specific geometry and wheelbase in mind.

 

Scrambler 400 X

The Scrambler 400 X is set for the gravel with a longer wheelbase, lengthened suspension, and a larger 19-inch front wheel; not to mention wider handlebars and more upright positioning for the rider. The placement of the foot pegs changes as well with foot controls being placed lower and wider to allow for a more natural standing position.

 

Both models offer ABS and traction control, the traction control is switchable on and off, however, the switchable ABS feature is only offered on the Scrambler model. The display is simple and intuitive with a large analogue speedometer and integrated LCD screen including a digital tachometer, fuel range indicator and gear indicator. Rounding out the features on the Speed and Scrambler 400 series are a torque-assist clutch, LED lighting, and ride-by-wire throttle.

You can expect to see more information come out about the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X in the coming months. Triumph boasts that these models will be quality-based, and easy to afford; although we don’t have pricing for the models yet, we can expect to hear more details about pricing and availability as 2024 grows near.
